1   Letters To Santa From... / Re: Dear Santa Claus...  on: Today at 06:53am
Started by Mikey Moe | Post by Santa
I do recall this letter, Mikey. I searched through my Christmas letter archives and found my reply to your letter after the holidays were over that I sent out to you:

Dear Mikey Moe Hawk,

Santa was very busy on Christmas this year and there were a lot of good boys and girls out in the world who were a lot worse off than you and your family as you know from being in a parochial school, so Santa could only bring you the Great Garloo this year from me. The electric guitar is only a passive fad anyway and pretty soon, no one will even know what they were. Thank you for being such a good boy this year and keep up those good grades in school. Looking forward to seeing you next year.

Santa
January 1963

At first, when I saw that you had addressed the letter to Satan, I was a bit drawn back but after realizing that you were only a first grader in a catholic school, the misspelled words were actually a bit cute after the thought. You were in such a lovely developemental stage then, learning about how to succeed in the world. Also, if I remember correctly, you sent the letter to me before Thanksgiving Day of 1962, which of course, is still Santa's vacation. I don't begin to work again until Thanksgiving Day from the last Christmas Eve. The letter sat in a post office box until almost too late, which is why I had to rush to even make "The Great Garloo" for you, let alone a second gift. Remember to tell your children and your children's children not to bother Santa before Thanksgiving Day. Thank you and have a Happy Thanksgiving (I can still answer emails and phone calls before Thanksgiving, I just don't like to work before then).

This is an actual letter that I wrote when I was 6 years old to Santa Claus:

dere satan claws,

my name is Mikey Moe Hawk and I am 6 and a haff years old and I want a grate garloo for crissmas. I want a lectric gitar so i can lern rock and roll music like chcuk barry. dont forget the great garloo cuz i like monstars a lot to.

thnk you Satan Klawz,
Mikey Moe Hawk
the good boy of the family
1962

Unfortunately, I did not receive the electric guitar I asked for, but I did get The Great Garloo, which I played with for many years (until I got married in 82), and then sold to a toy collector a few years ago. This was a landmark Christmas for me because I had so wanted an electric guitar and the beginning of disappointment in life in general for me, as a lad. Got it? GET IT!!!

3   The Tales Of Sir Martin of White Mud! / Farewell To A Friend...  on: Oct 25th, 2009, 8:52pm
Started by Mikey Moe | Post by Mikey Moe
Today, Sunday, October 25th, 2009, I laid my friend to rest. Martin Preece aka Sir Martin of White Mud aka Sir Martini Hawk, who passed from us last Monday on October 19th after his short, but sturdy battle with cancer, was my friend. I am a better man today because of Martin. I will be a better man tomorrow because of Martin. Martin was like my big brother in many ways, as well as a close friend. I was the second person he called (after my loving cousin Greggy) to inform of his cancer. I was the second person (after my loving cousing Greggy) that his Dear Mum called to inform of his passing. In the last 6 weeks of his life, after finding out about his ailment, he tried to fit so much in knowing of his impending death, but was unable to accomplish everything he wanted to because the original prediction of "about nine months to live" accelerated to only 6 weeks. I spoke with him every day after his first radiation and chemo treatments to make sure he was feeling okay. He would call me all hours of the night and day just to talk to me, which I told him to do, because that's what friends are for. Sometimes, I think he just wanted to hear a familiar voice from his life while trapped in a hospital bed hooked to an IV. He and I talked to great lengths about so many things in his final days before the diseased took his body over causing so much pain and fever, he couldn't speak. I sensed his fear, but he never complained about what was happening to him, only complaining from time to time about the pain the cancer was inflicting on him, making him extremely uncomfortable so much so that he couldn't even type his computer keyboard to pound out emails or carry on his business with WebSEODesign.com, a search engine optimization company he formed a few short years ago to provide income for himself and Gwen aka Sheila his pet panther, his loving Mum of 86 years old.

This weekend, I spent most of my waking hours with Cousin Greggy aka Greg Gracer aka Doc Hormone visiting from Miami on behalf of Martin. Originally, Greg had booked this time so that he and I could wreak havoc on poor Sir Martin either at the hospital or at home, as only we can. Unfortunately for both of us, Martin never made it to the weekend, so Greg came to town still to help lay Martin to rest. Greg and I, at Gwen's request, placed Martin's ashes in their final resting place in a small plot at Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Clair Shores today just before noon.

I am not going to sit here and babble about the death of Sir Martin of White Mud, because I would rather celebrate his life instead. I looked up to him (he was taller than I am) for many things. I learned that time is something that no one should ever waste because no one can ever predict an accurate time frame output. Greg and I had a beautiful weekend together visiting mostly with each other and Gwen Preece and of course, with a few other White Mud members who showed up today at the funeral service. Tommy Cucurru, Tony D'Orio and Kris and Jim from the band were all on hand today. How about that? Martin got 6 guys from White Mud to attend Sunday services in a church! This whole weekend was filled with the presence of Martin around Greg and I so much so that it started getting a little freaky. Amidst all the mayhem that Greg and I had caused this weekend in true Hawk/Mud fashion, I can assure you that EVERYTHING was Martin Preece-related. I actually hurt today from all the laughing that I did this weekend with Greg. Sheila, Martin's pet panther, aka Gwen was also quite amused at our antics with her. We had her laughing and talking all afternoon that she spent with us on Saturday. I swear that most 86 year old women may have been totally embarassed by our antics, especially when we took her out to dinner, but not Sheila. She growled right back at us and chimed right in! You gotta love that...we did.

All in all, no matter how irreverant some of our nonsense may appear to be, it was never done out of any disrespect towards Martin at all. Martin bellowed at Greg and I when he discovered that he had cancer that if he ever detected any pity from either of us, he'd kick our asses and hang up or kick us out. Although Greg and I wept privately and with each other, we never let him down that way. We gave him our normal royal treatment every time we talked or visited, right to the very end, as per his wishes and he came back in true Sir Martin style as well, sometimes taking the unfamiliar LOW ROAD rather than his usual HIGH ROAD standards. We all had great fun together which I can not explain in words...I can't explain it in tears...I can't explain it in laughter...

...you just sort of had to be there!

I will always love Martin Preece as he was my mentor, my big brother, my close personal friend and my fellow Mudder and Hawker. Martin "Don't Call Me MARTY" Preece has finally taken his very last road trip. Farewell my friend, until we meet again...

Got it?

GET IT!!!

My close personal friend, one-third of the Unholy Trinity, Martin Preece, has passed away this afternoon, October 19th, 2008 at approximately 1:30 pm after his short, but determined battle with cancer. Let us rise up to celebrate this man's life. I am so going to miss his company and wit. God bless and hold you close Martin.

It's very unfortunate for ALL of us that Sir Martin of White Mud's health is failing so rapidly, as he will never be able to tell us his road stories personally here. I will keep this thread wide open for any stories that any of us have of Sir Martin of White Mud aka Martin Preece aka Sir Martini Hawk that we would be willing to share with all of us.

Martin Preece is one of the most honest men I have ever met with integrity so intense, it's amazing. In the inevitable event of his upcoming passing, I will not mourn his passing here, I will only celebrate his life here. Thank you so much for being such a close and wonderful friend and cousin, and yes...BROTHER, Martin! I love you now and forever.

For those of you who may be interested, Sir Martin of White Mud was hospitalized once again for 8 days and is now at home, however, he has a severe fever. I speak with him on nearly a daily basis, albeit, sometimes only for a few minutes, but I still check to see how he's feeling.

This is his second trip to the hospital for over a week. His throat is a bit raspy these days, probably due to the chemotherapy, and phone conversations are kept to a minimum due to that. Doc Hormone will arrive next weekend on the 23rd and he and I will give Sir Martin a weekend he won't soon forget, complete with hookers, barnyard animals and coloring books. I'd ask all of you to come with us, but I won't.

9   Reality Television Show Ideas / Genital Impressions  on: Oct 5th, 2009, 1:20pm

This is an idea that I have, just on a whim. Men and Women alike could partake in this one. You take photographs of your genitalia and try to find a photograph of a famous person that your genitalia looks like. I'm sure we could get the guy who played Lamont Sanford (no one knows his real name anyway, or cares for that matter) to host the show. Yeah, him and Julio. Fred's dead, right. Wasn't that a song once long ago? Imagine the fun we could have with this show. And that's all I'm saying about it.

I had a really nice visit on Sunday afternoon with Sir Martin of White Mud or if you prefer, Sir Martini Hawk and his pet panther Sheila, as well as Uboo. We hadn't seen each other in a little while and we have been long overdue, so I traveled to the forbidden side of town and into the salt caverns of Clinton Township to the secret location of Sir Martin Manor. We talked all afternoon and he is doing quite well, all things considered. Felt like he needed to get out for a short bit, so we got into the Hawkmobile and took a short jaunt down the road where the pizza is hot and ready and the gothic kids flow like wine in the parking lots.

Of course, it would not be a visit with Sir Martin with more of his "Road Stories", which I always find very fascinating. He got to hang with some of my childhood heroes when they WERE my childhood heroes and the cool behind-the-scenes stories are worth their weight in gold stool from the late, great Cody!

I recently also hooked him up with an old and dear friend of his, Dennis Dunaway, the original bassist of The Alice Cooper Group and they have been communicating via email daily as Dennis takes his new band on the road warming up for Alice. He even mentioned that Alice and he were talking about Sir Martin of White Mud and how they built the famous Alice Cooper electric chair. Bet my name never comes up in a conversation with Alice Cooper!

Anyway, he is still in pain, but he is managing it quite well considering all he's been through in the last couple of weeks. It was a nice visit and we spent several hours together and look forward to our next visit.

Got it? GET IT!!!
